Invitations Addressed!

The invitations have been addressed!

Invitations, I have decided, are one of the most stressful parts of getting married. Wouldn't life be easier if we could just use evites? lol. Choosing the invitations, choosing the envelopes, placing the order, waiting for the arrival, keeping the cats from eating them, figuring out how to address them, actually addressing them, and mailing them out... yikes.

And my cousin tells me all her invitations were returned due to lack of sufficient postage. I would have a heart attack right there at the mailbox. (I'm not even sure all those invitations would FIT in my mailbox...)

So 2 Saturdays ago (yes, I'm behind,) Ryan and I took the plunge.

We both have awful handwriting and the only person we know who knows calligraphy is in Florida, thus we decided to print the addresses ourselves. I was absolutely 100% the computer was going to tear up every single one of my beautiful envelopes... absolutely sure. Ryan thought the print wouldn't set and would smear. (He is more optimistic than me.) "How much would it cost to go to Kinkos?" I kept asking. "A lot... I think," he'd say back.

He set up all the addresses so they would print one after another on the envelopes. As soon as he had it all set up, I remembered I'd left people on the list whose addresses we didn't have yet, which means he had to start over. Oops.

Eventually, though, it was all set to go... and we tried one... and then another... and then another...

It was quite a task. The printer rejected quite a few envelopes, to our great chagrin. Ryan threatened it sternly and yet it didn't seem to listen. The cats tried to come investigate. (Thank goodness for random toys which move on their own - who cares about invitations when there's a large ball rolling around on its own? Not my cats, that's for sure!)

All in all, it was quite an adventure :) But, for the most part, it's all done. I have a few left to do when I get their addresses or some changes I'd like to make, but otherwise they're ready to go out. I no longer have to fight with the computer to post the 0 in New Jersey zip codes (which start with 0) !!!!

And hey, at least we don't have to do invitations like this anymore:
